Audio Ripping / copying problems - HELP
Hi all,

Hope you can help me.

I am running suse 9.1 professional with all the latest updates installed.

When ever I try and rip audio files or copy an audio cd in k3b / Kaudiocreator etc, the ripping / cd copy (not burning) gets so far and then just suddently stops and crashes the system. It does this on all audio cd's.

Copying data cd's - everything is fine - just audio cd's.

Any help would be great

I used to have this problem when I didn't have enough RAM. How much memory do you have? Maybe your swap space is too small. Do a "df -h" to see how big your swap is.

I have 2GB of RAM
1 GB of SWAP

Any other ideas matey?

Well, it's still possible that KDE is taking up all your RAM ;-)

I'm out of ideas then! Try using cdparanoia to do your ripping... that might work.

I agree, cdparanoia and lame do the business.

cdparanoia $TRACK-NUMBER && lame cdda.wav $TRACK-NAME.mp3 && rm -f cdda.wav

Change $TRACK-NUMBER for the track number you want to rip and instead of $TRACK-NAME put the name you want to call the track (no spaces in command line stuff - you can rename it later)
