Audio Recording.

I use the fedora core 3 distro, after having used and disliked SuSe 9.1, Mepis, Ubuntu and Debian. But what I require is a recording suite similar to Protools LE (digidesign.com) Fedora core 3 is the best I have come across so far, but to complete it, all I require is something of that nature. I am unsure about JACK, as i haven't heard much about it, or the DYNE : BOLIC distro. Anyone?

don't know about that program
but basically i would install (what i use anyway)

jack
qjackctl
ladccad
ladspa_sdk and effects plugins (swh-plugins)
muse
aurdor

and with a program named "sudo" so you can run these programs with root permissions
for real time access and mem locking

i also use audacity as regular user for editing, conversions, and effects

i use these programs just like they are without patching my kernel or adding modules or anything and they work fine (2.6 series kernel)

you can compile them yourself if you need to (if a current version won't compile just go back alittle for a better one)

there is a drum loop program too that does ok if you don't need multiples of anything other than 4
i think it might be called hydrogen (not sure)
