Audio on TV

I have a problem. I connected the laptop to the TV with an HDMI cable.
After 10 minutes, the sound disappears from the TV and appears on the laptop.
After changing the settings for HDMI / Display Port, again after 10 minutes, the sound disappears from the TV and appears in the laptop.

Is the audio cable a separate cable (even if it's bundled in with the video cable)? If so, try running a simple audio patch cable to rule out any issues with the cable itself.

ten minutes sounds like power save mode or screen saver.

$ xset -dpms off s noblank s noexpose

Should turn off auto blanking.

$ xset -dpms on s blank s expose

To turn it on again.

Thanks.
The screen saver was the cause.
Question: What is a screen saver with the sound.
With the image is understandable.

Audio over HDMI is over the video signal / connection. When it cuts out (signal lost), the audio goes with it. The power save modes (DPMS) kicks in and basically turns off the signal if not told to do otherwise.

$ xset q

To see what your defaults are currently set to. Off: 600 in my case, which is 60 seconds * 10 aka 10 minutes. With DPMS is Enabled (by default).
