I have recently installed Linux Mint 20 in my Laptop. And I am having this issue audio issue Whenever i play a high quality video from my hard drive. The video runs normal but the audio lags in between certain intervals. I also tried playing video from online platform like Youtube and found no such issue, neither i found such issue when playing low quality video (like 480p).
Here are the specs of my system.
I don't know which version of Linux Mint you installed, however, as mentioned in the "Known Issues" section here:
Quote:
Sound and microphone issues
If you're facing issues with your microphone or your sound output, please install "pavucontrol".
This will add "PulseAudio Volume Control" to your menu. This application has more configuration options than the default volume control.
Personally I don't think pavucontrol will fix your issue but might be worth trying, install with commands from the terminal app:
Code:
sudo apt update
sudo apt install pavucontrol
I feel it is most likely the video player that you are using which is likely the default player that was installed. You can try a different video player, Mplayer tends to be good with all video formats.
Hi @Brains, thanks for responding. I don't think media is a problem because i ran both the default one and Vlc, the result was same. However i will try Pulse Audio lets see if it makes any difference.
UPDATE - The issue got resolved by its own. I don't know what the problem real problem was, I didn't face this problem today when i tried to play the video (I also tried to play the video in 1080p, and didn't have problem). I think my system is capable handling heavy task sometime as mentioned by @teckk. Thank you all for your response.
