Audio driver problem?

Hello, I am on ubuntu 8.04, and I have a problem. My sound works fine on the desktop, with the firefox and other stuff, but when I try to play bzflag or tremulous, stuff like that, the sound doesn't work. On bzflag it displays, "audio driver not available". How do I fix this?

Ubuntu problem... more specifically a pulseaudio problem. A lot of applications do not support pulseaudio (which ubuntu chose to make its default sound server, never mind that it doesn't work with half the soundcards that were previously compatible with ubuntu, and dozens of programs that simply do not support pulseaudio. i.e. wine)

What you can try is to switch to "ALSA" in System-Preferences-Sound.

If you want to keep pulseaudio in control there's an entry here:

I don't understand it though... frankly I don't understand the whole pulseaudio business... and I really tried.

Maybe this helps:
