Audio CD

I cant play an Audio CD in Slackware 9.0 running kernel 2.4.22. I try playing it in XMMS, but it doesnt play. I tried kscd and it reads the cd but it doesnt play. i try mounting my second cd drive (mount /dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom2) and it says that i have to specify my filesystem. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks.

Does it actually start playing but no sound? Have you checked your sound volume level? What are your permissions for /dev/dsp and /dev/mixer ? Can you play when logged in as root?

Can you play any other sounds? Is your soundcard configured properly? More details please.

Also you can't mount media cd's, that is why you get error mounting it.

After you've tried all that then make sure you've installed the cdread plugin for xmms. That will play cds even if the cable is not connected.
