Audio CD's are choppy

I've tried burning a audio cd in fc2 a few ways... k3b, cdrecord, cdrdao. The only way I can describe the output on the audio cd is it plays the music and burps every second. (litterly I was watching the clock during playback)

I checked the mp3 and wav files. Both play ok in mplayer. Also the same procedure used to work in fc1. This has only become a problem in fc2.

Anyone know where to start looking to debug this problem?

Are you using cheap media, or is the burning speed above the speed the media is rated at.

Data DVD, CD and Video DVD all work fine buring iso images. But in anycase I'm trying this out now.

I have two burners in my machine so I'm trying to burn at 4x on the older burner. If that doesn't work I'll slow down the DVD burner to 4x (from it's 16x) and try again.

One question.. why would this work fine on FC1 but not on FC2? What's changed in this area?

Tried my CD Burners at slower speeds and same result. The CD's I'm using are ARITA CD-R. From what I read they go up to 52 x

Did you use ide-scsi emulation under FC1? If you don't know what this is then go to http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/IDE_CD_Writer, and follow instructions for kernel 2.2. It says don't need to under 2.4 but wouldn't work for me when I was using a 2.4 kernel, now I'm using 2.6 everything works great without ide-scsi emulation (in fact wit it enabled I couldn't mount any cd's in those drives)

ok this worked.

I added hdc=ide-scsi to my grub.conf and it's working great.
