Audacity Freezes and Can't Open Files

I have a fresh, few day old clean reinstall of Linux Mint Cinnamon 17.3.
I try to open audacity, but it freezes. After a few times, it opens not frozen, I try to add a file, it freezes or it's like nothing happens. No other thing happens.

Anything I can do to fix it? I could open it in Windows but I'd rather do it here without rebooting again and again.

Try starting Audacity from the command line. It may throw some helpful error messages to the terminal window. If it does, post the error messages here, being sure to surround them with "Code" tags.

I installed a different version and I have had no problems doing a couple concerts with it.
