Attempting the Impossible?

Hi all,

I am running Slack9...
I am trying to use Kdevelop 3.0-a5

The catch -- I don't like KDE, and I have not installed it
Instead, I only installed kdelibs, qt and fam, which satisfy all the dependencies of kdevelop-htdig (which I assume is the launcher for kdevelop).

The problem is... it doesn't work... I get a window that pops up super quickly, then disappears before I can read it...

Any suggestions?

type the command in the terminal....this is a good way to get feedback from what the program is doing..the error should get printed out...

tried that.... nada...

also tried randomly running various other kde stuff.... like
kdeinit
kde-config
klauncher
kwrapper kdevelop-htdig
kde-init_wrapper kdevelop-htdig

all to no avail.... and to no nice print outs on the screen

k here goes nothing, i am going to list the dependancies of kdevelop:
kdelibs-devel
make
perl >= 5
autoconf
auomake
flex
qt-designer
bash
perl
glibc
kdelibs
libgcc
XFree86-libs
libjpeg
libpng
valgrind
qt
libstdc++
zlib
kdevelop-c_c++_ref

so maybe you can see if you have all that ... i have no idea if this has anything to do with your problem, but i guess it wouldn't hurt to check.

Thanks

There are a couple on there that I am not sure of...
I was only checking via ldd... which indicates that I have everything... but that is no a wholly valid check

I looked at what command gets run when the KDevelop icon is clicked: it's "gideon". Try running "gideon" from the command line; it works on my machine (Slackware 9.0). I don't understand it either.
