ATI drivers Fedora C4

Hi everybody:
Now - I got a situation here. I DON’T get it!!! Could somebody write a HOWTO in order to install the ATI Driver on Fedora C4?. I’ve tried installing the driver from livna.org, but I got a funny dependency (libstdc++5...the default version is 4.2…) that I could not fix…(Actually I installed this library from Mandrake’s FTP and got the driver working, but without 3D acceleration)…I didn’t find this update for fedora anywhere, and Livna’s instructions don’t mention anything about such a dependency…….I think I’ve tried all possible configurations in fglrxconfig without success….So I downloaded the ATI’s installer, hoping they would work, and I got the same result…..NO 3D acceleration….it’s funny that nobody mentions anything about configuration process in the Installation guide at ATI’s web site …….
I would like to know if there is anyone that got this F driver working properly!!!!...I already thought about buying and nvidia G card; I just don’t see anyone struggling with this drivers...(my neighbors have Ubuntu and Suse 9.3 with nvidea GCs ....no problems at all)........Could somebody help this poor Linux addict whit this problem?.....I have a Radeon 9200SE.... the MESA driver work fine, but sometimes games freezes and it annoys me very much..
Thanks for your help.......
PD:...The latest Cedega you can get it form mratner.h12.ru .....

What repositories do you have enabled in Yum? I think the "compat-libstdc++-33" package provides the library you are looking for; do you have it? Yum should be able to get it from the "base" repository; I don't know why it's failing.

Did you manage to put fglrx (the ati "driver") to work? I'm dealing with the same problem (though i tried the 32bit and 64bit drivers with livna and then ati's and I got nowhere). The best I managed was with ubuntu where fglrx ran, but still Mesa in 3d

What repositories do you have enabled?

Did you do this:
1. add Livna to your Yum repos; for FC4 that means just do "rpm -Uvh http://rpm.livna.org/fedora/4/i386/R...7.4.noarch.rpm"
2. run "yum install kernel-module-fglrx-$(uname -r)" (if you recently updated the kernel, reboot before doing this)

Hi and thank you for the tip.

Right after i posted I did update the kernel (fedorafaq.org doesn't mentione it but if we do that code after a clean install, without updating the kernel, the versions of kernel-module-fglrx and ati-fglrx will mismatch, because the previous one will be as old as our kernel, but the last one is always up to date!).

fglrx was correctly installed, but I'm still without 3d. Right now I saw a very interesting forum in:

http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/showthread.php?t=82200

It was said that some motherboards emulate something by software that controls AGP (newbie talk), and that software is only available in Windows. Still waiting to see if that's my case, and who else is affected.

edit: i forgot to reply, I did that yes, it worked for 2D
