Unhappy ATI driver

I have a problem when I try to install the driver I download from ATI for RADION 9800XT.
I’m trying to get a dual channel display on my two monitors.
I have Suse 9.2 that comes with x.org, so I got the write driver from ATI, but when install the driver I get this warning:

“the QT based control panel application did not load in any version”

Then my Xsession doesn’t restart and I get this error (From the log file):

(WW) RADEON: No matching Device section for instance (BusID PCI:1:0:1) found
(WW) RADEON(0): config file vrefresh range 43-75Hz not within DDC vrefresh ranges.
(WW) (1280x960,CRT2 Monitor) mode clock 108MHz exceeds DDC maximum 80MHz
(WW) RADEON(0): Failed to set up write-combining range (0xd0000000,0x8000000)
(WW) RADEON(0): Direct rendering not yet supported on Radeon 9500 and newer cards

In ATI website, they say that I need QT because the driver depends on it!
Do I really need it ? and where can I get it ?
Any idea? Anybody is running RADION 9800XT?? Help!

QT is need only for the ATI Control Panel (which is really useless. It doesn't control anything, trust me). So you can install the drivers without it. Just you won't have the control panel that's all.

Your other problem is more involved, but I trust that somebody can help you out with that.

Your best bet is to ask on http://www.rage3d.org which is the forum for ATI drivers. If you need QT, the distro CD should have it. (KDE desktop is based on QT).
QT is developed by Trolltech.

ATI drivers don't work with the old x.org
ATI drivers > 3.14 + X.org 6.8.0/1 = no workie

Better run your xorgconfig or fglrxconfig again, or go back to the 3.14 drivers.

Xorg was just a fork of XFree 4.3.3 when it came out and it does work with ATI drivers with a small patch. The Xfree version on ATI works with Xorg 6.7.

6.8 support is included in the latest ATI drivers.
