ati aiw 128 pro 32m running on linux - video capture driver?

I'm trying to capture video using my ATI all in wonder 128 pro 32M agp card.....do I need special drivers installed. I have installed the video4linux and have attempted to install km from gatos with no success. It may be asimple compile issue but any help would be appreciated. km make simply fails with Error code 1. Has anyone successfully installed this software AND is this the way to go or is there a simpler root. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
