aterm distorts mc

hi, used linux before a few years ago, decided to give it a go again and learn all over. the problem i have is that when i run mc in aterm it distorts, however whenever i run it in xterm it comes up perfect. i'm guessing it's a font problem but i can't find anything in documentation/don't know what to look for in docs.

Hey! I've got that problem once too, but only under Redhat 9.0. All the rest worked just fine. Try:

Quote:

aterm -fn <font name>
where font name is the name of the font you want to use. Wherever you have doubt how to use an application under Linux, use the man command followed by the name that you want info about. Example:

Quote:

man aterm
Would bring a huge list with all possible commands to be used with aterm. This works with everything else too ;). By the way, welcome to LinuxQuestions.org!

Good luck!

thanks, i'm using redhat 8, i did actually see that command, although i'm unsure of what font xterm uses or what would fix this problem, should have asked the question better.

ok, now in gnome i can get aterm working use the -fn sans, but as soon as i switch to fluxbox and use -fn sans it won't work.

"mc -a" seems to fix the distortion if anyone else has this problem.
