artsd won't die

I've got a fairly annoying/possibly serious problem, after running my computer for more than a day or so, artsd just dies out on me. I'll be playing an mp3 and then.... silence. A look at the currently running processes show artsd up, so I go ahead and kill it, but lo and behold it's still there. Throw in a kill -9 and... woah, it's still there. It's really pissing me off because according to top that darn process is eating up 100% of my first cpu. I'm starting to think I'll run entirely without arts, any thoughts?

As a side note, I remember hearing somewhere that anything that didn't die with a kill -9 was a kernel bug, that true?
