artsd refuses to die

Hello all,

I can't seem to kill artsd on my system. I can't kill its PID, nor can I kill it with "killall artsd," even as root! I can't manually erase it from /proc (probably unwise to begin with). Only a reboot fixes the problem. Why is this, and how can I kill it if the aforementioned programs cannot?

Thank you

artsd must be doing some unhandled exeption and freeking out/crashing so it won't die.
no way to kill it once it goes all zombie on you. not even a chain saw will work.
best avoid starting it up altogether like the plague. an evil plague of walking dead sound processes.
just disable it in the KDE settup thingy

The latest KDE versions works fine for me now.
3.5.5 I think
artsd can be a pain that's true.. but no more problem for me anymore.

That's just the problem--I'm using 3.5.5.
