ArmageTron question

OK
having got the 3d working (at last) i 've been trying out the various 3d games.

ArmageTron...great game, but...
why do the light cycles move so slow?
they're more like light bicycles!

any tweaks or tips?

many ta's

It seems to me that armagetron may just run slow. I haven't tested it on a linux box yet, but I am able to run Quake III (another opengl app) at 1024x768 res with almost 100 fps. I installed armagetron and ran it and at 640x400 resolution I only got somehting like 25 fps... just sad.

it's not a FPS issue
i'm getting 86-120 fp/s
it's the cycle itself
goes like a bicycle
when i crash and the AI cycles are left their speed increases dramatically

Cycle speed is configurable in settings.cfg. This is (obviously) a setting on the server side.

Bear in mind that the closer you get to a wall the faster you will go.
