ares on wine

I've heard people say that ares on wine works pretty well... my issue is that it won't even start up. Frank's Corner said...

Tested Wine Version: 20050111

Type wine areslite181.exe to install Ares Lite.
Make sure you have a copy of shdocvw.dll in wine's system directory and add these lines to ~/.wine/config:
"shdocvw" = "native"

Type wine ares.exe in the installation directory to run Ares Lite.
I have wine version 20050930, the executable file for ares lite is "areslite.exe" not just "ares.exe", and I don't have/can't find ~/.wine/config. I put shdocvw.dll in the windows\system and windows\system32 folders.

When I try to run "wine areslite.exe" I get...

fixme:ole:CoInitializeSecurity ((nil),-1,(nil),(nil),2,3,(nil),0,(nil)) - stub!
fixme:shell:SHAutoComplete SHAutoComplete stub
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...
WineDbg starting on pid 0x8
Unhandled exception: page fault on write access to 0x00000040 in 32-bit code (0x00000000).
