Exclamation Ardour logs me out of RH9 when trying to open

I've recently installed Ardour using apt-get as recommended in it's website. I'm running RH9 KDE 3.1-10 kernell version should be 2.4.20-8 (sorry if I'm mistaken... I'm a newbie!) and my sound card is a SB Live! Platinum 5.1 ... tell me if you need more info on hardware! (some more should be in my signature)

The problem is that when I click on the icon that is now in my sound and video floder Ardour won't start, with no message of any kind and will log me out of linux. I then see the gui logon.

If anyone has any clue please tell me, I've already suscribed to the Ardour's bug report system but they will send me a password for me to report the "bug" and I thought that maybe this would be a faster way to get it running. Thanx

Hey chaca,

I installed it under Mandrake 9.1 and ran into the same problem. Then I decided to try and run it as root and it worked... however, i'm not a fan at running things as root and anyway, was not able to get much further with configuring Ardour to work with my cards (I have two soundcards... M-Audio Audiophile 2496 and SB Audigy Platinum)... Anyone had any luck with two soundcards? I use my SB mainly for soundfonts and everyday usage, and my m-audio for the spdif and analogue inputs.

Have you tried running it as root? If that solves your problem, you'll know it is a problem with permissions (and I'm a newbie as well, so not sure as to the best solution). Would it be to add that prog to a list for sudoers and add your account to it? Not sure. Anyone?
