ArchLinux + mySQL

Hello,

I seem to be having problems with mySQL! I have installed the daemon and clients from the ArchLinux repositories, however when I start mysql from /etc/rc.d it doesn't actually start (even though it claims to have stated)!

To make matters worse, nothing is appended in mysql.log - it's totally blank.

I'm rather confused that it's not working on my VDS, yet perfectly on my workstation (which runs ArchLinux too).

Any ideas?

I don't know abt Arch Linux, but there are few ways to start mysql in fedora, redhat...may be you can try those..

/usr/sbin/mysqlmanager --user mysql

/usr/sbin/mysqld

/usr/bin/mysqld

service mysqld start
