Archiving MS Outlook Folders For Use in Linux

Hi,

I use CentOS and Fedora for 90 percent of my activity, but I have to read/send email via MS Outlook. I have lots of MS Outlook folders. I would like to move the older folders to my Linux machines and view them with a text-based email viewer (like mutt).

What's the best way to do this? I'm thinking of archiving the Outlook folders into .pst files, and converting those to an mbox format. Is that an easy thing to do, or is there a more common and easier way?

Thanks.

i fear that pst is a proprietary binary format so i doubt if there is any documentation on how to parse it (but you mite as well check google). does outlook allow you to rite-clik copy/paste folders so that they can be saved on the harddrive in a non-compressed/encrypted format. then it would just be a matter of parsing the txt mail headers into a format you like.

I do remember Outlook can also export mails to another format then .pst .
If my memory is correct, there's a point in the dialog where you create .pst files when the dropdown box has alternative choices.
You'll have to click the dropdownbox to see them though ...
