APXS for Apache

Hello, I wasn't sure where to post this, but I thought this forum was the closest match.

I have Apache2 currently running on my system. APXS was not initially installed when Apache2 was initially installed. Ultimately I am trying to install the mod_jk/mod_webapp connector for Tomcat. I am trying to build the source files for mod_jk, but I need APXS. I have searched and searched for instructions on how to install APXS on a current Apache2 installation and cannot find anything. Short of reinstalling Apache2, does anyone know how or even if this can be done?

Thanks in advance...

If you run Debian the package that provides the Apache development stuff (including apxs) should be apache2-dev or apache-dev.

Code:
hakan@devon:~$ apt-cache policy apache-dev
apache-dev:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 1.3.33-8ubuntu1
  Version table:
     1.3.33-8ubuntu1 0
        500 http://security.ubuntu.com breezy-security/universe Packages
     1.3.33-8 0
        500 http://se.archive.ubuntu.com breezy/universe Packages
hakan@devon:~$
If I had it installed, the version would show up instead of "Installed: (none)".

Well that sums it up...apparently I do not have apache(2)-dev installed.

Thanks!
