install but i cant remember what it is can anyone help me
yes its the locales thanks thats what i have been trying to remember
but which locale do install to make look ok i am using it from the command line as well
Hi Mahmoud,
Looking at your thumbnail attached I would guess that you're not using the correct encoding for your terminal program. Have you tried changing it until aptitude looks right?
cheers,
jdk
I have used this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=622018
The article describes changing screen resolution but in doing so it also explains how to change locales; they key is running this:
sudo dpkg-reconfigure console-setup
Note: this describes the Ubuntu method; AFAIK Debian does not use console-tools so the method should be different one. Just do not ask me which one.
