apt-get upgrade rollback

I wanted to upgrade python2.4-minimal and python2.4 packages, but I got this error

Setting up python2.4-minimal (2.4.4-3+etch1) ...
Linking and byte-compiling packages for runtime python2.4...
file does not exist: /usr/lib/apache2/modules/
pycentral: pycentral rtinstall: package libapache2-mod-python: error byte-compiling files (1)
pycentral rtinstall: package libapache2-mod-python: error byte-compiling files (1)
dpkg: error processing python2.4-minimal (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of python2.4:
 python2.4 depends on python2.4-minimal (= 2.4.4-3+etch1); however:
Package python2.4-minimal is not configured yet.
dpkg: error processing python2.4 (--configure):
 dependency problems - leaving unconfigured
Errors were encountered while processing:
I also tried apt-get -f and dpkg-reconfigure --force, but nothing helped.
So I decided not to upgrade these packages and set them to hold.
But everytime I install or upgrade another package I get the message above.
Is there a way how to roll back to the previous state?

Thanks for your answers.

The apt how-to might come in handy about now, eh?

Go see this thread on message #3, think it's the same kind of problem.
