apt-get on suse linux 10


i am using suse linux 10.0 Enterprise Server. I am doing my best install apt-get or yum. A lot of different dependencies problems and others.
Plz any body can guide me what i should do.

Hey why not using Yast the tool is beautiful will resolv the dependencies automatically most of time unless conflicts or so.......

SUSE has its own built in tools, so try to use those. As mentioned above, you can use the software module in YAST for package management. An alternative would be to install SMART and SMART GUI. SMART is available in the openSUSE repos, but I am not sure if its available for SLED/SLES.

U r right, but some s/w packages are not available or built in suse cd's like apt-get. Then how can we install them from yast.......it has to downloaded 4rm internet in the form of rpm. And when we install rpm, there are dependencies problems again.

apt-get is a tool in debian based os.
similar tool in suse is yast..........why are you mixing the two
why do you want apt-get on suse ???
what actually do you want to install??
