apt-get on slackware
I can't get any of the .deb or .rpm packages to install on slackware. kpackage doesn't do anything when I use it and rpm complains about not having many many libraries.
Is there a way to get apt-get and synaptic installed under Slackware 9? |
I don't think Slack can use apt.
RPM's need to be converted to TGZ's AFAIK so it wouldn't be much of a gain to you even if you get apt4rpm/synaptic up. |
if you are using Slackware 9.1...on the second CD in the extra directory i think?? there is a 'slackpkg' app which has some similarities to apt-get.
to install 'slackpkg' from your cd you would do: installpkg /mnt/cdrom/extras/slackpkg.........blah blah blah it's on the second install cd, i can't remember the exact directory. also check the readme on how to use it. i use it quite a bit...saves time searching a cdrom. |
is there a gui for slackpkg?

hey, I suggest you to use slapt-get... you can download it in www.linuxpackages.net (I hope you know this site). Slapt-get is now compatible with linuxpackages... good, very good if you don't wanna download packages and install'em by yourself
