apt-get and synaptic

I have installed both apt and synaptic successfuly and used it to manage my Packages.
But How may I use it to install packages from the internet?
For example, I want to download mplayer and I want apt-get (or synaptic) to handle all dependencies problems and install everything from the net directly (while monitored by me of course to agree or not upon these packages) is that possible? and how?
I use FC3 linux.

You can edit your apt sources.list and add them to it.

If you want mplayer add freshrpms to your /etc/apt/sources.list. There are instructions on how to do this on their website and on google.
