Here is how I have my sources list loking now
# If you uncomment the lines below you can use apt-get to install packages
# from the Debian distribution. However, PLEASE NOTE that you may pull in

thsi is the error message that I am now getting
"pc1:~# apt-get update
E: Malformed line 6 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list (dist)"

you need to use the whole line

deb stable main non-free contrib
