Apt Dynamic MMap problem

I have been using Apt for a long time with no problems. Now I get the following error when doing an apt-get...

Reading package lists... Error!
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Dynamic MMap ran out of room
E: Error occurred while processing pydance (NewVersion1)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.us.debian.org_debian_dists_stable_main_binary-i386_Packages
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
debian:/home/jsburger#

I created an apt.conf file with the proper entry but that didn't help. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Oh, I am running Debian unstable.

Please disregard my previous post. Apparently I didn't have the apt-cache limit set high enough in apt.conf.
It is working now with a value of 20000000.
