Question applying patch for boost 1.34.1

I am trying to compile boost 1.34.1 for my ubuntu system. I found that when using gcc 4.2 to compile boost it crashes. There is a patch, but I don't know how to apply it. Here is the ticket

I downloaded the file, but don't know what to do with it. Do I past the code into the configure file or do I need to do a command at the command line.

Thanks for the help.

Usually you unpack the source package, then apply the patch, then configure, make, and finally make install.

Something like this:

1. tar xjvf boost_1_34_1.tar.bz2

2. cd boost_1_34_1

3. patch -Np1 -i ../patch-tools_jam_src_build.jam

4. ./configure

5. make

6. make install

Note: You may need to add options when running configure.

Thanks for the reply. I'll give it a try. I have to reinstall ubuntu. My hard drive with the root file system on it is going bad. I'll let you know if it all worked out with the patch.
