Applications not running...

Hi all,

Just completed a install of Suse 9.1 on a i386 based platform.
I installed both firefox and netscape into /usr/local/ - both applications will run as root, but neither will run as a normal user. All permissions are set as 755 and owner is root, group is users. The strange thing is, firefox will not even run when installed in my home directory (as regular user). Any help is greatly appreciated!

EDIT: Even if I change permissions to 777, no go. The application just doesn even launch, no feedback in system log or from terminal.

Angry

nothing shows up on console - nothing in the terminal (just a newline) after ./netscape or whatever.
