Applications Manager for .desktop files

I'm trying to migrate my machine from a standard ubuntu interface to using Gnome-Do with the Docky interface. Which is fine. However I've realised that if I do away with my gnome-panel I can't manage my .desktop files any more.

So does any one know of an alternative application for managing .desktop files?

Yes very funy.

I did find that the normal menu editor in Ubuntu isn't part of the menu itself but an application called alacart which I can still use to organise them.
