application that detects tones?

Hi all,

is there a linux program that can detect tones?

I am testing telephone tones and was hoping to be able to put a microphone up to it and have the software tell me what tone (or tones) are being generated.

actually much less exciting. trying to verify that my companies product generates the right tones for different countries call waiting, offhook warning, etc. tones
