Application for stream forwarding to local network

Dear LinuxQuestion users, hello everybody,

I am looking for an open-source application for Linux which is able to grab an ASF/RTSP stream from the 'net and forward it to a local network acting as a streaming-server too. Since we don't have cable-TV, neither satellite or anything, we watch the mainstream television through internet streams, so it would be good if we want to watch both channels on separate computers there won't be two connections out to the net, because it would eliminate almost the whole bandwith, just only one instead, which is runinng on a local server which task would be to distribute streams on the LAN.

Is this called 'stream-proxy' anyways?

Thanks for your help,
stringZ

Thanks four your post, mrclisdue, does it have a command line interface?
Because I don't have (and don't want to have) graphical environment on my server due to memory issues.

indeed, it does - pretty powerful cli...and fairly extensive documentation, too.

cheers,
