Applets stalling out before connecting to network

I noticed that when I am connected to the network via ether net cable, my applets; gnome weather, gmail notifier, RHEL updating program, all update right away as would be expected. However; when connecting to the network by wireless connection, my applets fail to connect because connection to the network hasnít been completed. Is there a way to delay the applets until after a connection has been established?

I do not use rhel but have you looked at your /etc/ for configs that might help?

try right hand clicking (reverse if you are left handed) the relevant applet and see if it has options that can be configged.

I realise it might be a pain to rh click applets after net is up.
