Applet to control volume in linux

Hi,

I need an applet to control the volume levels in my linux system, similar to kmix or the gnome mixer. I would like to be able to control the mixer levels via global shortcuts, so the applet aumix (http://jpj.net/~trevor/aumix.html) is not a good choice because it don't offer this support.

I don't want to use gnome or kde apps because they pull a lot of dependences.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
