Apollon and giFT don't work
Hi,
I installed giFT and Apollon but when I do giftd it doesent do anything and looks like frozen. When I start Apollon it starts but in the console it says: [fedivh@localhost bin]$ ./apollon QObject::connect: No such slot ApollonTransferTab::slotCheckWM(bool) QObject::connect: (sender name: 'apollon-mainwindow#1') QObject::connect: (receiver name: 'ApollonTransferTab') *** GIFT-FATAL: Failed to load interface subsystem NOTE: There may be another giFT daemon running on this host. Check to see if the interface port (1213) is currently in use by another process. *** Often times more information can be found in the log file or with the -v command line switch. *** GIFT-FATAL: Failed to load interface subsystem In the graphical interface it just says: Connecting... The connection is being established, please be patient... Nothing more! Please tell me what to do or how to check if the interface port 1213 is in use by another process. THanks Now the graphical interface says: Connection error The giFT daemon, which is responsible for connecting to the various networks, appears to be down and I don't seem to able to start it. Probably your giFT installation is corrupted. Try starting giFT manually by typing "giftd" on the command line. If this gives errors, there's likely some internal error in giFT or in your giFT configuration. Refer to the giFT homepage at http://giftproject.org for help. |
Did you install giftd proplerly AND run the config script?
it will NOT work properly if you dont go threw the config script and answer the questions.... some of them are there intentionally and have to have a certain response to make sure that you actually read threw it. |
I read everything! I even tried with a manual where they tell you the best answers and it still doesent work.

How did you launch gift?
the correct thing to do is to type: giftd -d After you do that, it should show that it started the process and drop you back to your console. Then wait a few seconds for it to build its conncetion, and launch the GUI. I use Apollon and Giftcurs as my gui's.... have you tried any interfaces other than apollin? was gift properly installed and runnign when you installed and launched apollon? Are you trying to lauch more than one gift instance? Perhaps you launched it more than once, and that is causing problems. try a reboot or killing the procees manually to make sure its all clean. again, the giftd -d command shouldnt give you much output... just tell you that it launched the process and drop back ot command. once you do that, you should be able to launch the interface of your choice and use it. |
