apache2 fails to start

I am having trouble starting apache2 on suse9.1.
The command
# /etc/init.d/apache2 start
results in
Starting httpd2 (prefork) failed

and puts the following two lines in the logfile.
[warn] Init: Session Cache is not configured [hint: SSLSessionCache]
[notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec2)

It is the default install of apache2 with suse9.1 professional.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, my googling has not found anything useful.

Which log file is that in? If it's not in the Apache error log (usually /var/log/httpd/error_log) check that file out and see what it says.

It is that log file, only in /var/log/apache2/error_log

I've got the same problem on suse 9.1 also installed with plesk 7.03
