Arrow Apache VirtualHosts and VSFTPd

Hey there guys

Basic Problem:

Apache + Virtualhosts + VSFTPd = 403 Forbidden

Detailed Problem:

I currently have a few Virtualhosts setup which all run fine from /var/www

website1.com = /var/www/web1/
website2.com = /var/www/web2/
website3.com = /home/pakage/public_html/

website3.com isn't mine.. and I want to setup FTP access so that my friend can access it... and in the future I want to setup other people aswell..

Apache runs with the username "www-data" on my server.

When I try and access website3.com I get "You don't have permission to access /index.html on this server."

In the error logs I get this

[Wed Aug 3 15:56:35 2005] [error] [client 202.182.209.2] (13)Permission denied: access to /index.html failed because search permissions are missing on a component of the path

Workarounds I have tried:

1. Tried adding a "User pakage" in the <Virtualhost> segment of httpd.conf which didn't appear to change things

2. Tried using chown&chgrp on /home/pakage/public_html to manually set the owner to www-data... the permissions didn't stick and php didn't work regardless

Basically I think this is a permissions problem I think..
but I'm a noob so don't quote me on that

Cheers guys!

Problem fixed

The problem was definately my permissions

/home/pakage/public_html has the following permissions

rwxrwx---

I changed it to

rwxrwxr-x

Now I have another problem...

But I'll make a new forum =)
