Apache for local dev - block access from net?

Hi all -

I'm a web developer, just switched to Linux from Windows. (I had some Linux experience - was a linux user @ 5 years ago, but haven't touched it since).

Anyhooo I'm up and running on Mandrake 10. I chose to install Apache, PHP, and MySQL on installation (my default development tools).

Question. I used to run Apache under Windows XP, and in order to prevent access to the Apache server from the internet (I only want it to be accessible via localhost, not to the public), I had used the ZoneAlarm firewall to block requests from the internet to the web server. I'm connected to the net via a Linksys router, and do NOT have forwarding set up for the web server.

Do I need to configure something such as ipchains to accomplish the same effect in Linux (ie. blocking traffic from the internet to the web server)?

Thanks! You'll all been insanely helpful getting things up and running.

This usually means you have a private network and without port forwarding setup on the Linksys you will not have to do anything - you can only access your server from inside your private network.
