apache falling asleep?

I'm running apache on an old 486 laptop, it runs fine until 4 hours or so after I start it. It seems like apache falls asleep because if I try to goto my website after that it loads EXTREMELY slow, like bytes per second. If I go over to the laptop and restart httpd it runs fine again after that. Any ideas? I'm running slackware 7.1.
