Apache Extension Tool(apxs) not found!!

Hi

I have Red hat Linux 9.0
Apache Server comes along with it(2.0.40) and it is installed

Now I need to install PHP

While Installing PHP it is asking for apxs and perl
But I have perl installed in my system
apxs is no where found in my system

So i need to install that
How can I install that separtely will it not come along with apache
Where can I get that

Some say I need to uninstall apache for installing that

Please guide me to install that apxs so that I can continue my PHP installation

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

For that you need httpd-devel package installed.

Hi,

I ran into the same exact problem trying to get PHP installed. I did have to go and get the httpd-devel package, which will contain apxs. I dont *think* you will have to uninstall apache to install the devel package, but (and I am trying to remember here) I think there was a problem with the version of apache I was running (needed the most up to date version).

Re:apache

Hi,

I have to ask you, you use rpm instalation or compile sources?
Soo if you use rpm installtion you need to install httpd-devel-"your version" where version is the same with your httpd already installed.

Ciao,
Radu
