I proudly just finished switching from RH9 to slackware

I took the lazy route and did a "full" package install so I ended up with Apache 1.3.27 compiled by default. I really want to use 2.0.46 and compile it off apache.org. What is the best way to uninstall/get rid of my old apache before puttin the new one on? I recall having a similar problem in Red Hat, but there you can just uncheck apache at package install. Back then I just reinstalled the system without it after learning the hard way. Now that doesn't seem to be an option. Thanx to all who tolerate us newbs
