I have not used Suse, so someone correct me if I am wrong.

Did you install it using Yast? If so, most distros will automatically make it start on boot. Point your browser to "http://localhost" to see if Apache is running.

There should be a script in /etc/init.d called apache. As root, you should also be able to run "/etc/init.d/apache start".

I hope this helps

Yast-->system-->system services (run l evel editor)then enable Apache. If you just want to start it without it starting at boot:: /etc/init.d/apache start

YaST says Apache is running, start at boot and listen on 80, but I get nothing from http : / / server /.
Is there a config I should look at... Or maybe an error log.

Try here:

http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/

You have to do a rudimentary config before it works.

The configuration file is named:
httpd.conf

You'll probably end up adding more customizations than
this, but for a start look for:

ServerName www.example.com

YaST is a SuSE tool -- I don't believe that it is available on any distros besides SuSE/Novell. If you're using SuSE, you can just open up a command prompt and type yast, or it's in the KDE menu somewhere.

Ok, that makes me feel better, I did have a feeling that it was not available for Mandriva.
Thanks!
