Apache 2.0.xx Has many of you switched from 1.3??

Is it time to move to apache 2.0?

Does anyone know if it's possible to use ssl with more certificates ( for different virtual hosts) in new apache 2.0.36?

rverlander 05-26-2002 06:37 PM

no

Because many modules like mod_gzip, Apache-SSL and PHP (well theres an aplha of it) aren't avalible for Apache 2.0 yet :(

I use Apache 1.3.20 :)

Not yet. But soon, I think.

I have checked config of apache 2.0.36 and it seems they have mod_ssl included (but wasn't able to find anything about php)
But it's weird that nowhere in apache-ssl.org, modssl.org, php.net is mentioned apache 2.0.

I've only just started on my webserver and decided to uninstall the apache 1.3 and stick on 2.0.36. there is a PHP4 mod available for it, but as mentioned above it's in alpha at the moment and I'm not clued up on all this yet so I've not got it running with the mod. And there is an ssl mod that comes with it. It's also nice and easy to install and to get up and running for a pleb like me ;)

Will apache-ssl module be available for apache 2.0?

neo77777 05-29-2002 05:11 PM

It must be, I came a cross of an article in Linux Mag, there is a script similar to RH's up2date which downloads available apache's modules off the net and then install them if you wish, I read it is a highly configurable, the name of the project is apache toolbox it can be found at
http://www.apachetoolbox.com

rverlander 05-29-2002 09:18 PM

http://www.apachetoolbox.com is for Apache 1.3

Also Apache-SSL is only for 1.3.24

and http://www.apachetoolbox.com uses mod_ssl not Apache-SSL

I once tried http://www.apachetoolbox.com and it didn't work

rverlander 05-29-2002 09:19 PM

oh and http://www.apachetoolbox.com can't update old installs its only for new installs also apachetoolbox has old php

Noerr 05-30-2002 12:36 AM

need to check it up, but I doubt it will be anything about apache 2.0, because it's not even mentioned on apace-ssl.org neither modssl.org

Like I always say, I'll let it mature... I'll consider Apache 2.1, for now 1.3 is the one for me.
