When I drop my .htaccess in a dir and the .htpasswd in another dir it does not work... this is my .htaccess file

AuthUserFile /var/www/htpasswd/.htpasswd
AuthGroupFile /dev/null
AuthName "Password Protected Area"
AuthType Basic

<limit GET POST>
require valid-user
</limit>
