Anyone know any software for this?

Mail Server.
One I can use in a MX record of a domain name

Thanks

????Mail server? - try qmail or sendmail. All the mx record does in a dns zone file is point to a host(fully qualified name) with a server to accept incoming mail connections.

Can you be more specific?

All I want to do is be able receive e-mail from @mydomainisnoneofyourbusinessok.com addresses ;)

acid_kewpie 07-24-2002 06:57 AM

well.. that's just an smtp server... install one...

JamesF1 07-24-2002 07:00 AM

Okay then sendmail or qmail should do the trick. There's tons of info on both of them. I'm told that qmail is the more secure of these two and easier to configure but I'm having some problems to configure it myself so I can't give you much more info about it. You can download it at www.qmail.org. Just make sure you have a working dns for qmail

Hope it helps.

How do I config sendmail???
And how would I check e-mail???

acid_kewpie 07-24-2002 07:24 AM

you read the documentation that comes with it.
and you would use an email client.

rverlander 07-24-2002 07:32 AM

i know about e-mail client

acid_kewpie 07-24-2002 07:49 AM

good well that's that all sorted then...

Try www.sendmail.org They should have a basic configuration walk-through to help set it up. Or if you want to do it the lazy way you could try using webmin (www.webmin.com). All you need for it is a web-browser. But perhaps for actual learning experience it's better you do it by hand.
