Any way to disable firefox 1.5 drag & drop tabs?

I've been searching around quite a bit but there don't appear to be too many people having this problem or if they are it isn't bothering them.
The problem is, when clicking on a tab to switch between them, I often get a file type icon with a pointy thing on it and firefox freezes up until I click in the web page and it then reloads the page.
If there are another couple of tabs loading at the same time then firefox sometimes locks up for a fair amount of time.
I'm pretty sure it's something to do with the drag and drop tab reordering and it's becoming infuriating. I get the problem on every linux distro I use.
The question is, is there any kind of fix for it or better still is there any way to disable drag and drop reordering altogether?
It's not a feature I want or will ever use.
I've been through about:config and can't find anything there.
