any software or method to toggle the removable bit on usb flash drives?

after banging my head in windows for a fortnight.

any software or method to cleanly toggle (write the proper bits) via a better os? ;)

I have a few 4gb a 8gb a couple 16gb and a 64gb

and after various fun and playing some bits got toggled

under that evil os they show as permanent drives not removable now. but such is life. but fixing that bit is a Google fest like non other i have it seems to be some esoteric manufactures voodoo dance nothing standardized.

I figured on the sane side of the planet there might be a more elegant solution.

The only thing I have heard about is a tool called flipbit I think it is from Lexar.

Not sure linux cares about this issue.

Does the file system on the flash drive support that bit?
