any ideas?

heres the deal. I need a server. for starters a samba server. the computer im trying to install on is pent. 100 w/ 64mb ram and a 20gig drive. (a nice piece 'o crap)

i tried to install mandrake 8.0 1st. Everything goes fine except a third of the way into the actual install i get an error saying "cant install libgtkxmhtml1-1.2.13-1ndk.i586" <---does anyone know what the hell that is? or what packagage its in so i can not install that package? So the install continued but needless to say it doesnt work.

I then tried red hat, which did install but I dont want red hat. I've had problems installing samba. actually a file that is supposed to be in their /etc/inetd.conf doesnt even exist. but ill ask bout that in a diiferent section.

ive also tried slackware and had a couple problems, but i need something more newbieized than slackware.

Anywho, I really want mandrake. does anyone know anything bout that error. if not any ideas on how i should go bout this? like is their another better distro i havent tried? or does anyone know anything bout that /etc/inetd.conf that i need to setup samba?

Thanx in adv.

inetd was replaced by xinetd a year ago or so i think. rh71 and md80 both use xinetd. but samba is not controlled by that, it is a service in it's own right.

that file is something for gtk (gnome tool kit - a window graphics thing). You shouldn't need it too much, certanily no if you don't want X. you should have the option to not install the package upon setup.
