any good text formatting tools?
open office is cool, but it doesnt have a lot of fucntions such as grammer check, etc
staroffice is cooler, but it costs money... crossover officew with MS word is cool, but i dun really like the way things work and some times it could be buggy and glitchy (i do like MS word though) wine with MS word 2003 is a pain in the ass so i was wondering if there are any writing useful tools. suggestions? |
Actually I thought openoffice did have such things as spell check and grammar checking...
Try Abiword? |
Try TEX :)
But I warn you that it is not WYSIWYG :) |
what is WYSIWYG
and what version of open office has grammer check? ( i know it has spelling check, but not sure about grammer) |
WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get :)
And OO does not have a grammer check :( |
ah, yes. OpenOffice has spell check - not grammar check. Grammar check is what most people perfect in elementary school.
[/joke] |
WYSIWYG = dumb acronym =P

im a writer by hobby and in all the time i spent in MS word the grammer check didnt help me very much and i can remember more times than not it would flag something just to tell me it might be a run-on sentance. it didnt reallly seem to serve much purpose if u ask me.

Somebody should add a grammar check for OpenOffice if it isn't there already...
http://development.openoffice.org/index.html#SOURCECODE The above site may prove useful. |

For me, the grammer checker is often very poor. I tend to write in more complex sentence structures, having been trained as a lawyer. Although I no longer practice law, I still tend to write like an attorney. The grammer checker in M$ Werd (sp) hates me.
